Ceramic coils. Approx. 2 1/2 feet high.
I made this large urn by hand, stacking clay coils and scraping them smooth with a wooden flat wedge. After firing I painted on opaque white glaze then scoured some off to give the piece an antique’d look. I still want to embellish it with blue crystals…someday…

The silver and gold was created by blending separate colors that oxidized during firing, changing the colors completely.

Ceramic pieces fired a rusty matte red, decorated with dark blue splotches of color that evoke a tribal flair.
Designing this whistle took precise joining of the neck over the air hole of the main body, otherwise it will not produce any sound.

This design is inspired by an unknown artist’s work, the example given to me by my client which they wanted me to recreate. All colors were hand-mixed by me from three primaries.

Flowers are always a peaceful project for me to work on; the endless colors I discover when concentrating on each individual petal. I’ll be continuing to develope the colors in the left pansy, and darken the background to make the flowers jump out at the viewer.

Three mysterious animate life forms float in space, gazing out through single ocular orbs. Others will come to life behind the leaders, as they travel about the skies.

This is an anti-war piece.
The companion to “Every Mother’s Daughter,” and the second of a developing triptych, this young Palestinian boy holds a pineapple grenade. Layers of color are scribbled over each other to create the shadows in his skin, clothing, and grenade; highlights of lighter color will go over these to stitch together the final image.
